1. Seal Foundation Cracks Before They Spread

Address hairline fractures in concrete by cleaning and filling them with epoxy or concrete repair products. 2. Maintain Consistent Moisture Levels

6. Check for Puddling After Rain

After storms, inspect the foundation perimeter for standing water. French drains, grading modifications, or erosion control may be necessary.

7. Install a Moisture Barrier if Needed

When grading adjustments aren’t feasible, install a moisture barrier at least 5 feet deep to reduce water migration beneath the structure.

8. Install Erosion Control Measures

On slopes, use ground covers, pavers, landscape timbers, or liners to prevent soil movement affecting foundation stability.

9. Perform Annual Plumbing Inspections

Detect and address plumbing leaks early—they contribute to foundation damage over extended periods.

10. Check for Mold & Moisture

Look for mold, mildew, or moisture in basements, crawl spaces, and around foundation walls. A musty smell in your basement or white powder on basement walls (efflorescence) signals foundation problems requiring prompt attention.
